Plates are yet another way to really increase your stats, and there are 4 kinds of plates that are special, skill, normal and chaos plates. Chaos plates are unique kinds of plates you put on the 4 corners that cost a lot of materials to craft but can potentially have really good stats (although it's not guaranteed). Normal plates are your typical stat boost plates. Right below them are the 4 skill plate slots that enhance your class skills, and at the center is the single special plate for unique skills you can use (although they're completely unnecessary but fun to have).

You unlock the bottom 3 plate slots by buying the plate expansion item from the VIP section of the cash shop.

You get normal plates by buying the "Magic metal box" item from the general merchant for 15 Signet fragments per box, which you can get from opening eggs or the time event. The box will give any random plate, and then you have to go over to a scholar and craft it (Heraldry Production) before you can equip it. The stats that it'll give when you craft it will also be random, and if you want to unequip a plate without destroying it (Returning Heraldry), there's an option for that if you talk to the scholar. The materials and amount of gold you will need to craft the plate will be displayed once you place the plate on the slot and click on it. An example is shown below.

If you're just starting out then don't worry about trying to get any chaos plates as you will need your materials and gold for other things early on. As far as special plates go, they're unnecessary like I said, so it's not even worth getting them unless you like to mess around with those skills.

The easiest and fastest way to get skill plates is to buy them from Priestess of Darkness Mocha on the Goddess's Sparkle Store - Skill Heraldrys tab for ten 100k bags each.
